Warren Robertson started performing at the Comedy Underground in Melville in 2006, and whilst living in the UK appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2009. Warren is a fantastic MC and Comedian for corporate eventsIn 2010 he returned to SA and was nominated as Breakthrough Comedian of the year in 2011 at the Comic’s Choice Awards. His first one man show “Spamily” in 2012, was lauded at the National Arts Festival Makhanda, receiving sell-out crowds, and great reviews. ‘The Great Explorer’ (2015) was hailed as “A smart, engrossing comedy that educates even as it makes you laugh”.
His appearance on Comedy Central in 2013 alongside SA comedy veteran Al Prodgers, saw the latter refer to him as, “The most pyrotechnic mind in South African comedy”, which Warren freely admits made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
“D(e)ad inside” sold out its runs in South Africa and London, UK, earning rave critical reviews in both countries along the way. More recently he was voted The Best Comedian in Johannesburg by readers on the website oflocal.co.za in 2016 and 2017, and in the same year was made the head writer for the Comic’s Choice Awards delivering a show that critics called, “The funniest Awards show yet – News 24”. Television work: “Point of Order”, produced by ZA News, SABC 2’s Bantu Hour, and the Comedy Central Roast Battle. In 2021 Warren was selected to be the narrator for the local South African version of the international smash hit reality TV show, Love Island Warren’s two seasons of “The Award Winning Podcast”, were deemed by IOL to be, “SA’s Funniest Podcast”, and are still available on iTunes.
