KHADIJA HEEGER

KHADIJA HEEGER is a published poet, actress, guest speaker, MC and, cultural activist, who hails from the Cape Flats.

Khadija’s debut poetry collection is called ‘Beyond the delivery room’ may be found at The Book Lounge. Her 2nd collection, ‘Thicker than Sorrow’ will be available from the 9th August 2022. Publisher Modjaji Books.

Khadija’s acting career has and is at the fore as her artistic expression. She is a well-known face on South African television starring in series such as Skermergrond, Arendsvlei, Alles Malan, Afgrond, Sewende Laan, Recipes for Love & Murder, Krismis van Map Jacobs. ‘Down so Long’ a movie shot in 2019 in Hangberg, in Hout Bay, in which Khadija is the lead actress opposite Tshumano Sebe. It was part of Silverskerm 2022 & she was nominated for best actress award. Avokado, a film detailing the lives of the wealthy Wilemse family has recently been screened on Flieknet. Khadija plays matriarch Sylvia Wilemse.

Her international stuff include Recipes for Love & Murder, Low Rider, Spinners, Locked Up Abroad.

She still maintains a close eye on the heritage sector as it pertains to identity which features prominently in her performance poetry.
