Wanda Baloyi

Wanda Baloyi, the former lead singer of SAMA Award winning group Ghetto Luv has finally produced something that is indeed "So Amazing".

Wanda's sound ranges from jazz to soul, right through to afro fusion with a subtle blend off Mozambican flavors.

Wanda began her professional career while still in high school in Johannesburg. After leaving the hugely popular all-girl group Ghetto Luv in 2001, she went on to collaborate with Thembi Seete from the well known group Boom Shaka on a track called "Sure Ntombazana" for the hit series "Yizi Yizo 2" sound track cd.

She was then offered an opportunity to record her first solo project "voices" in 2003 produced by SAMA Award winner, guitar maestro Jimmy Dludlu. The resulting "Voices" landed her a KORA Award for Best African Arrangement 2004 along with 2SAMA nominations and a Channel O music video nomination 2005 and 2006. Wanda has had the opportunity to work and share stages with many great musicians and bands such as Jimmy Dludlu (with whom was invited to perform at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz concert Jo'burg as well as Cape Town 2003, as well as the Jazzathon 2004), M Connection, The Moreira Project (was invited as guest artist for the night of 100 stars 2005, Jazzathon and the Kirstenbosch Appletizer concert2006 as well as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2006), Straight and Narrow, Loading Zone, Hugh Masekela, Mama Miriam Makeba, Sibongile Khumalo, Themba Mkhize, Mark Fransman, Jaco Maria and many others.

She has performed in the National Warehouse Theatre in Namibia 2003, Summer Jazz Festival in Harare Zimbabwe 2004, The Jazzathon 2005 Cape Town, Inaugurations Celebration in Pretoria 2004, The Kora launch in Durban 2005, Standard bank Joy of Jazz 2006, Jhb Fashion Week in collaboration with Stoned Cherrie 2006, Khaya fm Birthday celebration 2006, old mutual and Revlon fourth winning style event and the Channel O Adora Film launch in Abuja Nigeria 2006 and much more.
