Tammy-Anne Fortuin
The flaming tiara...
Tammy-Anne matriculated at the end of 1999 from Paarl Girls' High and determined to pursue a career in law, she studied for a Bcom degree. In 2002 she was crowned as Rapport Miss Cape Peninsula in the Western Cape region of South Africa and later that year, as the first runner-up to a once-off reality television production of the traditional Miss South Africa Pageant 2002/3. Winning the swimwear section of the competition as well as the viewers' choice cemented a career change as she immediately drew the attention of some of the most prominent players in the South African modelling arena and her career as a model began to flourish. In Tammy-Anne's case, trading a crown for a swimming costume has proved to be a wise decision and today, she is one of the elite models in South Africa who have featured in both the coveted S.A Sports Illustrated Swimwear Edition in Malaysia 2004 and Cosmopolitan Lingerie Editions 2005, 2006 and 2007 consecutively. Appearing on the annual FHM Calender in 2004 resulted in being voted into the FHM 100 Sexiest List for two consecutive years and let's not forget the feature in South Africa's Premier guide to soccer, KickOff Magazine's Soccerbabes in Zanzibar in 2004. Showing just as much versatility as a working model in catalogue, fashion and beauty, she's been a favourite for local and international clients, a regular face in fashion and beauty magazines and has also booked international modeling contracts and catalogues which include, among others, Rajesh Popley and Allan Waar campaigns in Dubai as well as Honey Jewellery South Africa in 2007. She can currently be seen in print campaigns for South Africa's very own Woolworths, Count Pushkin Vodka as well as Sun International's Port Ghalib resort in Egypt.
Model turns TV chameleon...
Time has proved that it's not only her simmering talents as a model that captivates her audiences but also her performance ability for camera. After 6 years in the modeling and entertainment industry, she has featured in a string of television commercials as a nameless face which include Axe Men's fragrances, Coca-Cola, Femina Magazine India, Notta chocolates and Five Roses Ice Tea to name but a few. She has featured in music videos both locally and internationally including the very successful UK boy-band BLUE and South Africa's very own Mandoza. Her extensive experience infront of the camera with television presenting include Roer! — the award winning Afrikaans lifestyle cooking show that currently, with great success, enjoys its fifth year running on kykNET, guest presenting slots for "Ontbytsake" on kykNET and "The Triumph Inspiration Awards" for the GO Channel on DSTV. Roer, her current project where Tammy-Anne has already presented over 100 episodes, features South African celebrities cooking up a storm while alternating with a light interview style and humour. Two ATKV nominations as well as a SAFTA nomination, results in the show becoming a flagship for its broadcaster. In addition to Roer, the bilingual Tammy-Anne adds a new dimension to her work as she teams up with South African Rugby hero Bob Skinstad as a co-presenter for a revolutionary new concept in sports television from DSTV's Supersport. The show promises to highlight South Africa's love for sport in all aspects from its sporting heroes and current events to lifestyle entertainment and the business side of sport. She is currently a member of ACT Cape Town where she has already received training for TV presenting and acting and simultaneously invested in training at City Varsity Multimedia School for presenting.
The fashionista, the microphone and the journey behind the scenes...
The many facets to Tammy-Anne include her ability to entertain and command an audience which is evident in her work as an experienced MC with a client base that includes the Department of Sport and Culture and Media 24. Most recent MC appearances also include women's workshops for A-PLUS Magazine on fashion, beauty and overall style, the annual women's day functions for Die Burger Newspaper in media partnership with Sarie Magazine 2008 and Womens' Day MC for Finesse Magazine to honour inspirational women. Naturally, it is customary to look the part as well and 2008 sees her debut on astute South African fashion designer Simon Rademan's list as one of the best dressed women in South Africa. It is with great enthusiasm that she has taken on the role of assistant producer where she develops new and existing business for Homebrew Films, the television production and corporate communications company that discovered her as presenter and the very company in which she is a shareholder in today. With an eye for business, great people skills, talent and love for the industry, she successfully continues to enjoy longevity in her various career choices.
A humanitarian first...
It is with great effectiveness that she is actively involved in a string of charity projects to improve the lives of under-priviledged and abandoned children and also those suffering from life-threatening illnesses. She is currently enjoying her 6th year as Goodwill Ambassador for SOS Childrens' Villages, is an ambassador for Celebrities for Humanity and Missing Children S.A. What's unknown to many is that her involvement with up-liftment projects is much older than her career and it is no wonder that, to date, she has already received honorary awards from both SOS Childrens' Villages as well as the Reach for A Dream Organisation for contributions and involvement throughout her career. It goes without saying that at 26 years of age, Fortuin is a testament to the fact that hard work and a larger-than-life personality certainly goes a long way.
