Roxy

Roxy is an inspirational individual who has learned that she can own her life. Like so many people, her life has been far from perfect. A poor and abusive childhood, financial difficulties, contracting HIV in marriage, raising her children as a single mother —are some experiences she dealt with. Using her experiences, she is a dynamic motivational and inspirational speaker, coach, mentor and model who appears in a number of print and television commercials nationally and internationally. She is a dedicated and professional individual who is committed to providing the highest standards and excellence through her entrepreneurial business, Marosa Talk Show.

Born and bred in Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Roxy was one of six siblings brought up in a township by her mother, a then domestic worker, and a stepfather who worked as a labourer. Never one to let her circumstances get to her, she was determined to finish school and matriculated at St Boniface Roman Catholic School.

She did her tertiary education part-time, while performing a full-time job and being a wife and mother. She later furthered her studies full-time, studying personnel management at the then Cape Technikon (renamed to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology). She acquired marketing and sales skills over ten years of working in the retail, building and tourism industries. During this time she developed her passion for people development.

Having been inquisitive since she was a child, Roxy started her journey of personal transformation in 1999 —and it's ongoing. She kicked off the process by participating in the Landmark Forum, a powerful, life-altering programme focused on transformation under the umbrella of an international organisation, Landmark Education (LE). Between 2000 and 2003 Roxy participated in LE's leadership programmes in the UK, after which she was accredited as an LE seminar leader.

Faced with the challenge of HIV/Aids in the country, Roxy developed herself and trained as an HIV/Aids trainer and counsellor through a number of organisations, including the Christian Aids Bureau of South Africa (linked to World Vision), where she serves as a board member.

Roxy has been operating as a multi-skilled and entrepreneurial freelancer since 2002. Her services and unique facilitation style are well received, and are enjoyed by corporate, private and public enterprises, locally and internationally. She is motivated by her passion for life and ongoing development.

Using her personal experiences and lessons she has learnt in life, she acknowledges that life is a challenge and that every person has their own unique greatness. She uses her personal development skill to unleash that. She is sensitive to other people's needs and insecurities and insists on speaking in a way that leaves people inspired and hopeful.

Roxy considers herself to be a hard worker who thrives in an environment that demands initiative. She believes she is an asset to everyone who crosses her path. She is a passionate person —and with her experience, of work as well as in life, she makes a valuable and life-changing contribution to anything she undertakes or is involved with.
