Rosie Motene
Rosie Motene is a proudly South African actor, TV presenter, director and producer. She became a household name whilst on the world famous SA soapy, Generations. Generations is not only screened in South Africa but stretches across the continent and is aired on the Africa Channel which is broadcast in east and west America, the Caribbean and on Sky in the United Kingdom. After Generations, Rosie became the anchor presenter on Studio 53, a lifestyle magazine programme highlighting the beauty of Africa, Rosie was then trained as a director and producer for the network, the show is also broadcast on the same networks as Generations. Through her travels and related work Rosie has extended her brand across Africa.
In 2004, Rosie starred in the internationally acclaimed movie Hotel Rwanda, her other movie credits include, The Other woman, Nothing but the truth. In 2000, Rosie became heavily involved in campaigning for the rights of women and children and sits on the following boards of non-governmental organisations, POWA(people opposing women abuse), she is the deputy chairperson, Childline Gauteng where she is the chairperson, The Tomorrow Trust, The Johannesburg Children’s home and The infinite family based in New York City.
Rosie has also become a global MC and has compered many events in and outside South Africa, including, the IDC and NFVF dinners held respectively at the Cannes film festival in 2006, Rosie co-compered the cross over from Celtel to Zain, in Zambia, in 2008. Rosie has compered many corporate and charity events within South Africa and was a speaker at the Pan African film festival held in Los Angeles in 2010. Rosie is also the MC for the Millennium awards to be held in Ghana, which honours all the African heads of states.
Besides loving life she has appeared in and on the covers of many local and international magazines including, Drum Truelove, Cosmopolitan, Vanity Fair, African Women, Wanted to name a few. Rosie also gives motivational talks on topics of abuse, life and her experiences. From 2004 to 2008 Rosie was sponsored by BMW, the first Black, woman, non sports person to negotiate such a deal. In 2008 Rosie became the first brand ambassador for Jenna Clifford Jewelers. Rosie was also the face of Ugandan and Namibian fashion week respectively.
