Marcel Pretorius
Marcel Pretorius started his training as a magical entertainer in 1991 at the College of Magic. He graduated with Honors in 1997 and has over the years acquired a variety of entertaining skills. He has been a member of the Magical fantasy Team and has starred in numerous College shows. Marcel has also taken part in stage productions at the Artscape Theatre.
His love of singing has helped him make a name for himself in his magical music acts too. He first became renown for his regular performances at the V&A St Elmo's restaurant.In 1996 he became a member of the Secret Star Society.
Marcel has competed in the National Magic Championships twice and has gained valuable experience by attending the International Magic Congress in Dresden , Germany. He has won various awards for his magical and entertaining skills , including the Supreme Cup at the 1997 Cape Junior Magician Championships.
After completion of his magical training Marcel decided to study television and film. He has starred in many student films over the past two years and has won a NTVA award as Best Actor in the Comedy "I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU SWALLOWED LAST SUMMER" He then starred in a "Halls" advertisement using his magic and comedic ability to wow the audience on television. In 2001 Marcel also starred as one of 6 Legends Live Singers who performed a live Cabaret show at The Sandton Convention Centre. Singing along many great South African Singers they brought music delight to many people along with the 7 piece jazz band.
Marcel then decided to move inland and has worked at CARNIVAL CITY CASINO in Johannesburg and GRAND WEST CASINO in Cape Town. Marcel has also been quite involved in performing at local events in and around the country ranging from Children's magic shows to great Illusion Spectaculars. More recently Marcel has landed himself a presenter role in a television magazine program called HIP2B2. This focuses on maths, science and technology and has given him even more ability in his very exciting television career. Currently he has completed 140 weeks of filming and it looks like this has taken him to another creative avenue. Marcel now travels the country and is seen performing everywhere. More recently at Auto Africa 2006 with the world acclaimed Humanoid Robot "Asimo".
