Benito Vergotine

Benito Vergotine has extensive commercial radio experience. During his time at 94.5KFM he has seen the technology of radio broadcasting change from analogue to the various digital platforms available today.

'This is really an exciting time to be broadcasting. We can now make use of cell phone, i-pod and online technology in providing listeners with a total experience of the radio station and in the process offer more than quality programming. Now the choice of broadcaster is a lifestyle choice. However the basics of radio remain the same, you need a signal and you need to keep listeners entertained either through either music or talk. The challenge nowadays is to keep our listeners entertained using these new media and to make use of their access to the new media and insodoing to keep them involved with the radio station".

Benito matriculated from St'Joseph's College and attended UCT obtaining his BA degree in 1991. A year' stint at Rhodes cemented his interest and passion for the media but returned to Cape Town to complete his teacher's training. In a magazine interview he was quoted as saying "My year at Rhodes opened my eyes to journalism but also that I had lots of growing up to do".

He is currently also involved with an internal communications company and is using his passion for radio to assist companies through the establishment of in-house radio stations to communicate more effectively with their staff and clients.

Away from the studios he is kept busy with voice over projects, emcee work and the odd excursion on the golf course. When asked why he enjoys playing golf he stated without hesitation, "This game teaches you about yourself".

Benito is an avid reader and enjoys reading anything he can get his hands on particularly biographies and travel books. He is currently reading Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux. He lives by a simple credo: All about attitude, respect and integrity!

Benito Vergotine skills as an emcee have developed him into one that always delivers and is reliable. His extensive radio experience has shaped him into one of the most sought after emcees. He has hosted numerous station related events including client functions, promotions and a string of local and international concerts. In the corporate sector he has been an integral part of client breakfasts, motivational sessions, product launches and end of year functions. Benito has also developed into a capable auctioneer and a highlight is this years Presidents Cup at De Zalze in Stellenbosch.

As an avid golfer he has also hosted golf day prize giving's. An important consideration is his social investment and this has given him experience in a variety of community based events including festivals and being a guest speaker at school functions. Benito's passion is fuelled by his love of people and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
